Welcome to the home page for the Office of the Chief Information Officer.
This web page is the front door to a new alignment of the operational and policy aspects of information technology for Nebraska State Government. Our mission statement is "To serve the citizens of Nebraska by providing premier information technology leadership, policy and operations which facilitate an effective, responsive and efficient government."
Statutorily, the Office of the Chief Information Officer is administratively housed within the Department of Administrative Services for administrative purposes. The duties previously assigned to the Division of Communications, and Information Management Services are now part of the Office of the CIO. All duties assigned to these divisions can be found through this web site by the function they perform.
The realignment of delivery for IT services will provide the platform that allows government to deliver on Governor Heinemanīs vision of the future. That vision is based on four priorities: education, economic vitality, efficiency in government and protection of our families. We believe in "Power in Unity".
The Office of the CIO is now offering a FREE Electronic Mail List Service to all State Agencies!
This E-mail list service tool will enable the State to build and maintain large electronic mail lists composed of any mixture of internal and external addresses. These distribution lists can be used for mass mailings, moderated email discussions or even RSS distribution services! There is no longer a need to have an external company hold onto your agency's valuable distribution list data or your email addresses. Our solution is 100% internal and secured behind the State's firewalls.
Our Listserv server employs L-Soft Email List Server to ensure a high quality Listserv experience. This solution is used by other government agencies including (but not limited to) NASA, The Pentagon, Department of Defense, the Navy, and the US Senate as well as The World Bank and Harvard University.
We are extremely proud to be able to offer this new service to state agencies. If you are interested in the Listserv, please let us know by contacting our Help Desk at 471-4636. We look forward to helping you employ this service at your agency!
