1998 STATE GOVERNMENT DIRECTORIES
The 1998 NEBRASKA STATE GOVERNMENT DIRECTORIES have been distributed to all state agencies. We wish to express our appreciation to the agency communications coordinators who continue to provide us assistance in this annual undertaking. These books will once again be sold to the general public at the Spirit of the Prairie Gift Shop in the Capitol or by contacting the Division of Communications at 402/471-2761. The cost to the general public for the directory will remain at $5.00 per copy. The information is also available on the Internet. The address is http://www.state.ne.us. Then choose State Phone Directory.
COMMONLY ASKED BILLING QUESTIONS
Q. Now that the new State Government Directories have been distributed to State Agencies, can I give out copies to vendors that call on us or people that stop by our agency and need a copy?
A. The publishing and distribution cost of the Nebraska State Government Directories is included in the administrative costs we charge each agency for their monthly telephone service. This charge is not intended to cover any additional costs of providing copies of the Directory to individuals outside of State agencies. Individuals wishing to purchase a copy of the NE State Government Directory need to contact the Division of Communications at 402/471-2761. There is a $5.00 charge and pre-payment is required. Upon receipt of the payment, a Directory will be mailed out. We do put the individual's name on our mailing list and a notice is sent to them the following year informing them that the next year's directory is available. These Directories are also available at the
Q. Why is the charge for a conference call our agency made being billed at $.59, or more, per minute?
A. If you do not go through the State Operator for Conference Calls, you will be billed at the higher rate of the alternate long distance carrier. If you go through the State Operator, the rates are currently set at $.12 per minute for Intrastate and $.16 per minute for Interstate calls. For information on how to get the lower state rates by accessing the State Operator, see the General Telephone instructions in the yellow pages of the State Government Directory (page 21 for Lincoln Centrex, pages 28, 39, 47, 55 and 66 for other Centrex locations).

REMINDER: WHEN SUBMITTING YOUR MONTHLY ITD TO DAS-ACCOUNTING FOR PAYMENT PROCESSING, MAKE SURE YOU SUBMIT THE ITD THAT HAS ORIGINAL SIGNATURES FOR BOTH YOUR AGENCY AND DAS-COMMUNICATIONS. IF ACCOUNTING DOES NOT RECEIVE A COPY WITH ORIGINAL SIGNATURES IN BOTH LOCATIONS, THE DOCUMENT IS RETURNED TO COMMUNICATIONS FOR AN ORIGINAL SIGNATURE. THIS DELAYS THE ENTIRE PAYMENT PROCESS.
**ALIANT CELLULAR CUSTOMERS***
Effective with the March 1998 billing, a Federal Universal Service Fund (Federal U.S.F.) surcharge of $.40 per cellular number has been added to your cellular bill. This charge is the result of a provision of the 1996 Telecommunications Act that provides assistance to schools and libraries for telecommunications services.
If you have questions about the surcharge, contact Mike at 402/471-3719.
