CELLULAR FEATURES AVAILABLE

Did you know that when you call someone with your cellular phone, that your cellular number would be displayed if the party at the receiving end subscribes to caller ID? To enable caller ID block, dial *67 before dialing the telephone number you are calling. “Private Number” will be displayed on the receiving party’s display.

Ever need to call the person you just spoke with but don’t have their cellular number? Dial *69 and your cellular telephone will dial the number of the last person who called you. Some other useful features available on your cellular telephone are:

  • Call forwarding redirects calls to any number you choose. Your cellular telephone will not ring when call forwarding is activated. Press *72 + forwarding telephone number + SND, listen for tones and press END. TO cancel, press *73 SND, listen for the tones and press END.
  • Call diversion redirects calls, if you do not answer your cellular telephone, to any number you choose. Press *71 + forwarding number + SND, listen for the tones and press END. To cancel, press *73 SND, listen for the tones and press END.
  • Three-way calling allows you to dial another number while you are on a call and bring a third person into the conversation. While on your present call, dial the second number and press SND. After the second party answers, press SND to bring the first party back into the conversation. Your first party will hear the tones as you dial.
  • Call waiting allows you to go back and forth between two callers. While you are on a call, if another party calls, you will hear a beep. Press SND to answer the second call. Press SND again to speak to the first caller. You will be billed for both calls.
  • Voice Mail is now a FREE feature on your cellular telephone. Voice mail allows callers to reach you when you are traveling in an area of NO SERVICE. You can check your voice mail from your cellular telephone as well as from a remote phone, both in state and out-of-state. To add Voice Mail to your cellular telephone, please contact your agency’s Communications Coordinator.

If you have questions about any of these free features, contact Norma at 402/471-6391.

Updates are due into our office by November 20. We are anticipating the Directory to be available in early February 2000. Your agency will be contacted one last time in December to update the agency information pages in the front of the directory.

AUTOMATION OF QWEST’S (US WEST) OCC’S

The Division of Communications’ Accounts Receivable area is working on automation of the OCC’s (Other Charges and Credits) received from Qwest, formerly US West. These charges would be for any order processing charges, partial month new service going in and/or credits for partial month service being removed. This includes the one-time connection charges, labor, materials, and any other charge that is billed directly from Qwest. In the past, these charges have appeared under billing code 900 in a brief one-line abbreviated form and sometimes were several billing cycles old due to the volume and time required to manually add them to the Division of Communications’ billing.

When the OCC’s are automated, the charges will show up under billing code 500. The OCC records will in most cases provide the station number involved, any dates that are available, the description from Qwest, and the order number. The charges will be itemized in that order. It is planned to have this in place for the November 2000 bill and the first month will include charges from both October and November Qwest bills. If you have any questions, please call Lila at 402/471-4191 or Zale at 471-4703.

UNL CENTREX AND CITY OF
