CONFERENCE CALL CHOICES AVAILABLE TO STATE AGENCIES
Looking for options to save money? Need to hold a meeting but people are scattered around the globe? Consider conducting your meeting via a conference call. The State Operator Assisted Conference Call service and the Toll Free Meet Me Bridge service allows an individual to have a conference call that potentially could include up to 30 participants. Both services provide a way for State agencies to communicate over distance economically. The State Operator Assisted Call service uses the state operator to place the call to all the participants and link them together. The Toll Free Meet Me Bridge service allows the participants to call an 800 number at a pre-arranged date and time without assistance from an operator.
If you wish to schedule a State Operator Assisted Conference Call:
- Call 402-472-3711 to schedule a date and time with the operator.
- Give the operator the names and telephone numbers of all participants.
- Give the operator the billing number where you want the call billed.
- Give the operator the approximate length of the call.
- Notify your participants of the date and time that the operator will be calling them.
Agencies will be billed $3.00 per conference call plus the current Netcomm rate of $.08 per minute for each participant in the call for the State Operator Assisted Conference Call service.
To schedule a conference call using the Toll Free Meet Me Bridge:
- Call 402-471-9997. Ask to reserve a date and time to use the “State Conference Bridge”.
- Give the operator your agency name, telephone number and the telephone number where you want the call billed.
- Give the operator the approximate length of the call.
- Inform participants to call 888/866-4213 (471-6000 if calling from Lincoln) at the pre-arranged date and time.
Agencies will be billed $7.50 per conference call plus the current Netcomm rate of $.08 per minute for each participant for the Toll Free Meet Me Bridge Service.
Conference calls are an efficient way to conduct state business. If we can assist you in any way with your conferencing needs, please call our office at 402-471-2761.
OUTBOUND 800 CALLS FROM LINCOLN
We have had inquiries by state employees about 800 calls made from Lincoln state telephone numbers. When employees see the final billing detail on an 800 call, such as a personal calling card call, the from number is not the 471 number they actually used to place the call.
All 800 calls originating from Lincoln, State of Nebraska, telephone lines are handled by McLeod USA. Once McLeod USA receives the 800 call, McLeod USA hands the call off to the appropriate 800 call carrier. Because of this arrangement, when the call arrives at its final destination, the caller identification display will be a number from the McLeod USA network and not the originating Lincoln telephone number. The origination number of the 800 calls handled by McLeod USA will appear on the Division of Communications telecommunication billing as a McLeod USA network number. If you have questions about 800 calls, contact Bob at 402-471-3720.
