Broadband High Speed Internet Services

Description

This service provides Internet services for small offices and individual customers who need Internet access and limited access to internal State resources. This service has no service level agreement (SLA). This is a best effort service. Availability of Internet service providers (ISP) is determined on a site by site basis. The customer is responsible for contacting the ISP for support.

Service includes:

  • Consultation of the customer’s network needs
  • Coordination of installation

ISP Vendor will provide:

  • Equipment to access the Internet
  • Optional firewall or switch

The customer is responsible for installing the firewall or switch equipment, or Office of the CIO may be contracted for this service.

Broadband High Speed Internet Services provides a fast, dedicated Internet connection for a more efficient work environment.

Cost savings are realized because of centralized purchasing and volume discounts. The service allows customers to concentrate on their core business.

Customer Profile

State agencies, boards, and commissions; political subdivisions (e.g., cities, counties, community colleges and school districts); and federal agencies with staff who work from home or have small offices. Each individual site must be evaluated for service availability.

Service Cost

The service cost includes:

  • One-time installation and equipment fees and/or reactivation fees
  • Lease equipment - pass through charge from ISP
  • Circuit cost from ISP based upon contract term, customer needs and site location

  • Assist in creating a shared broadband service by finding multiple state tenants at a location which results in reduced cost and increased performance.

For those interested in self serve capabilities, an End User Desktop allows customers to submit their own tickets.  The current status of existing tickets can be obtained with a Lotus Notes client at Helpdesk@nebraska.gov from a browser.
